New Two-Story Classroom Buildings Taking Shape at East Union and Manteca High Schools

Construction continues to advance on two of the largest projects funded through the Manteca Unified School District Measure A Bond Program, bringing significant improvements to both East Union High School and Manteca High School.

The projects include new two-story classroom buildings that could welcome students for the start of the 2025–2026 school year, marking the first second-story classroom facilities constructed within Manteca Unified in more than five decades.

Approved by voters in 2020, the $260 million Measure A Bond was created to modernize aging school facilities and support the district’s long-term educational needs.

Transforming East Union High School

At East Union High School, construction crews are currently focused on the foundation work for a new two-story classroom building featuring 26 classrooms and a modern media center.

Once complete, the facility will become a prominent campus feature along North Union Road while providing flexible, technology-enhanced learning spaces designed to support today’s educational environment.

The building includes:

  • 26 new classrooms
  • A centralized media center
  • Flexible classroom configurations
  • Integrated technology infrastructure
  • Enhanced collaborative learning spaces

Additional work at East Union includes construction of a new small gymnasium, underground utility improvements, and a new weight room and indoor physical education facility designed to support multiple athletic and wellness programs.

Improvements Continue at Manteca High School

At Manteca High School, construction is underway on a new two-story classroom building along Mikesell Street that will provide 20 additional classrooms for students.

The project also includes a new woodshop facility and serves as the first phase of a larger campus modernization effort.

Once completed, older classroom buildings located in the center of campus will be removed to make way for a second two-story classroom building and a new media center connected through a student quad.

The future classroom complex will mirror many of the features being developed at East Union High School and further support the district’s vision for modern, student-centered learning environments.

Building for the Future

Together, the projects at East Union High School and Manteca High School represent approximately $65 million in facility improvements and are among the first projects funded through the Measure A Bond Program.

Construction is being led by C.T. Brayton & Sons, with completion targeted for summer 2025.

If construction remains on schedule, current sophomore classes could begin their senior year in the new classroom facilities, benefiting from modern educational spaces designed to support learning, collaboration, and future success.

“The new classroom complexes are designed to support modern learning, flexible teaching environments, and student success for generations to come.”
