Escalon Youth Flag Football Program Continues Record Growth

The City of Escalon Recreation Department’s youth flag football program continues to grow, welcoming nearly 400 young athletes during the 2025 season and setting a new participation record.

Running from mid-October through early December, the league featured multiple age divisions and concluded with championship games at Hogan-Ennis Park. The program has experienced steady growth over the past several years, reflecting increasing community participation and enthusiasm for youth athletics.

Record Participation

According to City Manager Jaylen French, one of the program’s most significant milestones has been the continued growth of girls flag football.

Participation has increased dramatically:

• 24 girls in 2023
• 74 girls in 2024
• 102 girls in 2025

Overall league registration has also grown from 263 participants in 2023 to 380 players during the 2025 season, demonstrating the continued popularity of the program throughout the Escalon community.

Supporting Youth Athletics

C.T. Brayton & Sons was proud to serve as one of the community sponsors supporting the 2025 flag football season.

Local sponsorships help offset program costs, provide team uniforms, and ensure more young athletes have the opportunity to participate in organized recreational sports. These partnerships reflect a shared commitment to strengthening the community and creating opportunities for youth to develop teamwork, confidence, and leadership both on and off the field.

Looking Ahead

Since its launch in 2018, Escalon’s youth flag football program has continued to expand, with participation increasing nearly every season.

As the league continues to grow, city officials hope to introduce additional enhancements, including postseason play, creating even more opportunities for young athletes to compete, learn, and enjoy the game.
